。。。 About Exhibition In Chan Shih-Tai’s process of creating, he has always been thinking about the relationship between him and the stone, an equal state the artist maintains in his creation. Sculpture production conventionally removes the traces of moss, oil stains, or dust left on the stone surface before starting the production. However, these traces retains on Chan’s pieces, along with the pencil marks made directly on the stone surface, letting them become part of the work. Chan favors manual processing instead of mechanical processing, he lets his intuition flow into the stone through the gesture and movement of hand craving and grinding, gradually removes materials until revealing its essence, become an image of the artist’s genuine cogitation. Chan Shih-Tai's solo exhibition "mi rifletto" shows a creative form that he has been exploring seen: for the first time, he challenges wall-mounted works, a position that the audience will be able to observe the piece when shadow casting over its surface in vertical perspective; Some of the works are placed on stone slab or lifted up by wooden stand, contrasts the subtle arc and angle of the work with flat; A pair of sculpture that echo each other, make prominent every geometric turn, sharp edge, and pencil marks left on his works. These traces become narrators who tranquilly mutter their tales to the viewer, replaying Chan Shih-Tai’s creating circumstances, have the audience experience the interaction and dialogue between the artist and the stone. The exhibition “mi rifletto” is not just about the artist’s creative technique, initially it reflects an abstract of Chan’s meaning of creative purpose. Chan Shih-Tai’s works are a transcription of his state of mind during creating moment, moreover they are the artist’s reflection on the meaning of life, and an artistic interpretation of time flows and conveying emotions. |
