HSU YIN-LING 許 尹 齡
"For Hsu Yin-Ling, painting is perhaps the strongest and most irreplaceable way of facing oneself with honesty, a self in which no-one else knows."
"Just be honest with oneself" - quote from Chang Ching-Wen
Born in 1987 in Pingtung, Taiwan, currently lives and works in Taipei. HSU Yin-Ling hopes that her works can allow people to discover the kind of world in which we live in. The works themselves do not present any specific opinions about society. Some of them can appear quite extreme, however they ambiguously conform to a modern appearance. Although the issues discussed will naturally be different following the development of society, this in turn is a kind of world order; every type of issue exists everywhere. Yet as people discuss issues concerning the environment, economy and power, there is the habit of fantasizing even greater and farther heights, forgetting what it means to be born human. Through her artworks, HSU hopes to remind herself and others of this question, the loss of humanity stemming from the pursuit of life, causing us to forget to face ourselves with honesty.
